R.I.P. Fonce Mizell.
So I read the other day that Fonce Mizell passed away. He was a legendary soul-jazz producer in the 60s and 70s who produced some of Donald Byrd's funkiest records from that era, records that I love, even though I'd never heard of Mizell. This link opened my eyes as DJ Matthew Africa, posted this mix that compiles some of Mizell's greatest hits. It's da bomb!
It's amazing to think of all the behind the scenes people that influenced and had a hand in the records that you love. Imagine being in the studio at that time with all those cool cats. Anyways enjoy this little summer time flight.
